I am a music therapist and university lecturer based in Kansai, Japan. My work focuses primarily on music therapy, with experience across clinical practice, higher education, and social welfare-related settings.

MY STORY…
A brief introduction to how I first encountered music therapy.
In 1996, when I was 17, I first came across the term ‘music therapy’. I later enrolled in a music therapy course in Japan. During my time at college, I became fascinated by the ways in which music could be used in social, psychological, and healthcare settings to support people’s growth and self-awareness.
During my studies in Japan, I was introduced to theories and concepts of music therapy from the UK, which had a major influence on the way I came to understand the field. Studying music therapy in the UK had long been a dream of mine, and in 2018 I was finally able to begin my training there.
